EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

The relationship between development, governance, politics and security has become a central focus of our democratic industrial complex. Strategies on enhancing peace building are continuously becoming an important feature in the collective national effort to conflict management. Religious, ethnic and political unrest have triggered series of violence resulting in loss of lives, property, and threat to the unity of Nigeria. It is estimated that over hundreds of thousand of Nigerians have lost their lives in ethno-religious crisis that have engulfed the country since the enthronement of democracy in 1979. All these attendant challenges accounted for the establishment of Centre for Islamic Research, Training and Development (CIRTDA) as a Special Purpose Vehicle Platform to enlighten, educate and develop the business minds of vulnerable Nigerians through enterprise education, financial inclusion, capacity building, conflict management, social safety management initiative, amnesty through genuine reconciliation research and development with a view to transforming human capital for development.

Centre for Islamic Research, Training and Development (CIRTDA) is primarily a driver to enhance the competitiveness of neglected rural communities by harnessing the opportunities of collaboration and partnership with groups, associations and individuals in Nigeria and beyond and by so doing, create capacity building and research development in our complex multi-religious contemporary society.
CIRTDA is an Islamic religious platform setup to rejuvenate social cohesion, decrease ethno-religious conflict and increase tolerance, overcome prejudices and stereotypes about other cultures and religion and increase economic development through this process.
